The hotel is barely a hundred yards from the sea front, and it will only take you minutes to discover one of the finest beaches in the South of England. With more than three miles of golden sand stretching from Shell Bay to the Old Harry Rock it also provides safe bathing all year round. Seaside activities include; pedaloes, surfboards, canoes, sailing, windsurfing, snorkelling, fishing and a zoned area for water-sports. The sea front is pedestrianised during the summer season providing a safe area for children to play. A rich variety of shops and pubs; The Mowlem Theatre; The Swanage Steam Railway, built in 1886 and operating on a 6 mile track between Swanage and Norden; Durlston Country Park nature reserve with over 260 acres of land and many different species of animal bird and reptile, and a viewpoint where visitors can watch the dolphins swim in the seas to the south; a Victorian Pier; two public swimming pools; tennis courts, indoor and outdoor bowling greens; and even a large golf course are just some of the attractions that are available.
